Court confirms trial against Bográn and Moraes, in the case ‘VIP Quarantine’

TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras.- The Court of Criminal Appeals of Francisco Morazán confirmed the act of formal prosecution against the former director of Strategic Investment of Honduras (Invest-H), Marc Bográn and the former administrator Alex Moraes, In the so-called ‘VIP Quarantine’ case.

In its ruling, the high court ordered that the precautionary measures be maintained, however, they will not be able to defend themselves at liberty on the grounds that there are other criminal proceedings against them.

by ‘VIP quarantine‘, Former Invest-H officials, are accused as perpetrators of the commission of the crime of embezzlement of public funds to the detriment of the public administration.

In March 2020, five Invest-H officials began a working tour in different cities where the mobile hospitals purchased in Turkey would be located, on returning to the capital they spent 15 days in quarantine to rule out that they were infected.

For this reason, they were accommodated – with all expenses paid – in a hotel in the city, as part of the isolation required by the biosecurity protocols, despite having enabled the Olympic Village to do so.

This action became expenses of the Road Infrastructure budget for the amount of one hundred one thousand, one hundred and ninety-nine lempires with forty cents (L 101,199.40). In April 2020, this case of corruption was denounced by EL HERALDO.

Both Bográn and Moraes are under pre-trial detention dictated by other courts for their involvement in the millionaire purchase of seven mobile hospitals.
