They promote sexual health, well-being and rights in the digital space – Latin Press

With the theme ‘Turn on: sexual health in a digital world’, this year seeks to raise awareness about the violations and abuses of these rights that are committed using new technologies.

This initiative, with different themes each year, has been developed since 2010 promoted by the World Association for Sexual Health.

The proposal was joined, once again, by the National Center for Sex Education (Cenesex) in Cuba with various actions through its social networks.

A virtual conference was held on the ‘Risk Factors of Child Sexual Abuse’ and tutorials were developed on the subject, which were broadcast by Telegram and Facebook.

Another topic addressed at the conference was comprehensive sexuality education as a key tool in the prevention of sexual violence toward childhood and adolescence.

Precisely, the right to decide about your body, sexuality, to live free of violence and respect for privacy and intimacy were some of the topics proposed to children and adolescents as another of the activities for them to build characters and stories.

In addition, a workshop was held by the Chairs of Sexology and Integral Sexuality Education where experiences from the different provinces of this country were shared at work with minors based on the integral education of the sexuality.

There were also online concerts, courses on the subject and capsules were developed to help prevent child sexual abuse, in collaboration with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) representation in this country.

The capsules were attended by teenagers, musicians, actors and journalists, where messages were presented that pay tribute to sexuality education.

In 2020, the theme chosen for this world day was: ‘Sexual pleasure in times of crisis for Covid-19’, focused on protecting the health and rights of all people in the midst of the complex epidemiological scenario and social for the pandemic.

Specialists point out that sexual health is defined as a state of physical, mental and social well-being in relation to sexuality, it requires a positive and respectful approach, of pleasant and safe experiences, free from all coercion, discrimination and violence.
