KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Rae’s Cafe, a restaurant in Blue Springs that was he ordered it to close by Jackson County on Friday, closed to the public on Saturday and reopened as a “private club.”
Jackson County ordered the closure of the cafe owner because it received repeated violations of the county’s COVID-19 order.
On Saturday morning, a KSHB 41 News photographer reported a sign on the restaurant door saying members had to pay a $ 1 fee to enter the establishment.

Masks are not allowed and visitors must log in when logged in.
“When you join this club, you admit that you are not a member of the general public,” the poster says. “By signing your name, you register your affiliation and assistance. You also take all the risks of disease transmission.”
Rae’s Cafe members can suggest items on the menu as members.
He last order issued by Jackson County on August 4 applies to places of public accommodation that include “any place or business that offers or maintains to the public goods, services, privileges, advantages of facilities or lodgings for peace, comfort, health and safety of the general public.
However, according to the order, “public accommodation does not include a private club.”
