There are rumors recently about a remaster of Grand Theft Auto Trilogy coming to Nintendo Switch later this year or sometime in 2022.

Today’s GTA news is a little different. Rockstar Games’ parent company, Take-Two Interactive, is taking legal action against the 14 programmers behind the re3 project. Grand Theft Auto 3 i Grand Theft Auto: Vice City can be played on Nintendo Switch.

According to Kotaku, the firm of Take-Two, Manhattan, Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp, filed the lawsuit in the northern district of California on Friday. Take-Two requests preliminary instruction and a jury trial and wants to stop the behavior before determining the resolution.

In the complaint, the MSK lawyer noted how the source code allowed players to install and run games on various gaming platforms, including those that have never been released on Nintendo Switch.

“Perhaps most importantly, the defendants claim that their GTA-derived source code allows players to install and run the Games on various gaming platforms, including those on which the Games have never been released, such as PlayStation Vita and Nintendo Switch “.

The lawsuit comes after Take-Two aired a wave of DMCA withdrawals in August, targeting some of the series’ most popular modifications. If the rumors about the remastering of Grand Theft Auto Trilogy are true, it’s probably the main reason here.
