Why treadmills and fasting do NOT make you lose weight

People trying to lose weight should stray from treadmills, start lifting weights and drink coffee before going out to the gym, according to a celebrity trainer.

Former Olympic speed skater Sarah Lindsay said you should touch the weight bar if you want to burn fat and drop a suit, or even train for a marathon.

PT specializes in body transformations and stars like Pixie Lott, Paloma Faith and Vogue Williams have turned to Sarah to help them shape.

Sarah told MailOnline that the average customer has gained 10kg since the start of the Covid pandemic, but says fad fasting diets, too much cardiovascular exercise and insufficient food will never work.

He also says that mastering just five exercises is enough to transform your body.

Here, he reveals why fasting is not the answer and why coffee can help with fat loss, but warns that taking it after training is “one of the worst things you can do for yourself”.

Why coffee is great before the gym, but never after

“If you’re not able to eat early and breakfast makes you feel bad, you shouldn’t eat it.

“Coffee on a completely empty stomach will provide you with energy and this caffeine will help you function.

“Coffee is a stimulant and causes cortisol to increase, which you can use before training.

But it should always be before a workout, never after. It’s one of the worst things you can do for yourself.

“You don’t have to make your body more acidic and you don’t want your body to be stimulated after a workout.”

Sarah says that if you have gained weight after several blockages, you can use it to your advantage in the gym.

She said: “Most of the people who come into me have gained ten pounds since closing.

“At first everyone was exercising, but after a year and a half he got bored.

“This level of weight gain will have a negative impact on your health.

But the most positive thing is that if you are heavier, you are stronger; therefore, use the extra weight you have in your favor.

“People think you should do cardio first and then tone up, but without training with weights.

“Jogging when it gets heavier only feels worse because of the impact on the joints.

“Weight training is the best way to exercise for you: use it to your advantage.”

When it comes to diet, while coffee can help you perform in the gym, it says there are no secret ingredients to help with fat loss.

“Foods do not help with fat loss; there is nothing in any food that makes you lose weight.

“I don’t like to demonize food, but I suggest people have best practices: food for their health, food for their performance, food for energy, and recovery.”

“Weight training is key to all physical goals: the more muscle you have, the more metabolism you will have”

Sarah says everyone should lift weights, whether you want to drop a dress or train for a marathon. He also says that rest is vital to help you achieve your goals.

The FIVE moves you need to quickly burst fat

Master these five movements to target every muscle in your body for a full workout.

1. Dead weight

2. On the squat

Any type of squat (single leg squat, wide split squat) will really target your legs and buttocks.

3. Chest press

4. Air press

5. Fila

There are several variations of rowing movements: single-arm row, tilted over row, drop-down

Everything is covered with these five movements; it flexes at the hip, pushes and stretches, presses over the head, bends at the knees; you will be strong everywhere and you will direct your whole body.

“Learn how to do these five things, get in good shape, enjoy yourself, and then start loading the bar, gain more weight, and challenge yourself.

“You’ll prepare your body to really start training.”

“If you increase muscle, you increase metabolism: the more muscle you have, the more metabolism increases, the more calories you burn at rest.

“Cardio is the last piece of the puzzle. A lot of people just want to do more and do a lot of cardio and then get too tired to get up properly; then you won’t be able to increase the intensity of your workout.

No need to do more, lose. Not eating enough is not a fun way to live. ”

He adds: “I firmly believe that everyone should train with weights – a lot of people will disagree because they like to run or whatever, but you should do it, regardless of your goal.

“If you want to run a marathon, you need to train with weights first to make sure your body is strong and you don’t get injured.

“Being stronger goes through everyday life; it will benefit any activity. Body weight will only work for so long and the body gets used to it quickly. Weights need to be added.

“Most people are intimidated by the weight section of the gym and that’s the first reason we started Roar Metal.

“Even people like me, I know what I do, I’m an Olympian, but when I go to a new gym, I even just want to find my comfort zone, I feel a little uncomfortable with a new environment.

But I want to help people become familiar with the use of weights, get stronger, and feel safer. Our workouts can be used on the phone in the gym when your weights at home are no longer heavy enough.

“You need to stimulate the muscle, the goal is to gradually increase all the time and improve. Try to lift more weight every time you go to the gym.

‘You’ll have to take the rest to work harder in the sessions. Rest between sets and repetitions. You should also take days off and recovery.

“But for a lot of people, it doesn’t feel institutional to rest when trying to achieve a goal.”

“People use fasting as a way to starve; not eating enough is not a fun way to live”

Sarah suggests that fasting has shown scientific benefits, including cancer patients and people who have severe weight loss.

People seeking help to lose weight are now 5 pounds heavier than before the pandemic

One study has warned that the average person seeking help for weight loss is now 2.2 kg (5 pounds) heavier than before the pandemic, meaning people are at higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes. .

The study, published in The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology, compared the weight of people who enrolled in the NHS Diabetes Prevention Program both before and during the pandemic.

Although the mean initial weight difference was 2.2 kg (5 lbs), those under 40 were the most affected with an average increase of 3.6 kg (8 lbs).

It is estimated that a 1 kg weight gain may increase the risk of diabetes by some by about 8%.

But he says it can be a dangerous weight loss method if people don’t do their research properly.

He told MailOnline, “The problem with fasting is that people don’t know why.

“You have to know what you’re doing, know the purpose and the science behind it – it can be good for you. But a lot of people just use fasting as a way to not have breakfast.

“A lot of people try not to eat and exercise more, which is very unhealthy.

You may not feel hungry in the morning, so it’s easy to skip breakfast. You will then shorten the window in which you have time to eat, so that you ultimately eat fewer calories and lose weight in the short term.

‘It’s a lot easier for people not to do something. If you don’t bother eating, you lose weight, but will it help your performance? How many high performance athletes do fast?

“Everyone is different, they have different goals and different things they try to achieve, but with any nutritional plan you should eat to get optimal health – it should be the main focus.

You just can’t sacrifice your health for any result.

“You should eat to perform and recover in training sessions to get the most out of it.

“You can tailor your diet and food to what may be your aesthetic goal.”
