An attack on troops in Quetta, a Pakistani province in Balochistan, killed three and wounded 15 on Sunday. CNN reports that Azhar Akram, Quetta district police inspector general, confirmed that a suicide bomber attacked a checkpoint where Quetta’s troops were. This follows a permanent conflict between Pakistan and those who rule Pakistan’s independence as the people have grown tired of the exploitation of the population and natural resources of the province.
Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, also known as the Pakistani Taliban (TTP), claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement to CNN. Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan tweeted his denunciation of the attack: “Condemn the TTP suicide attack at the FC checkpoint, Mastung Road, Quetta. My condolences are addressed to the families of the martyrs. and prayers for the recovery of the wounded. Salute our security forces and their sacrifices to keep us safe by thwarting the designs of foreign-backed terrorists. “
In an exclusive interview with CNN a few weeks ago, TTP leader Noor Wali Mehsud vowed to occupy Pakistan’s tribal border region, saying “the victory of one Muslim was surely useful for another Muslim.”
