Police say seven people were injured after a gunman shot at a crowd in Georgia
ATHENS, Ga. – Seven people were injured in Georgia when a man with an open gun shot at a crowd of people, police said.
The shooting took place in central Athens around 2 a.m. Sunday after a major fight broke out, Athens-Clarke County police said.
“Seven individuals were injured as a result of the shootings,” police said in a statement.
The injuries of the seven victims are not considered life-threatening, Police Lt. Shaun Barnett said.
Police were looking for a 21-year-old man they consider a suspect in the shooting. They described him as armed and dangerous and asked for help from the public as they searched for him.
Crime Stoppers is offering a $ 1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest, The Athens Banner-Herald reported.
At least six of the seven victims were shot, police said.
Five of the victims were found with gunshot wounds at the scene and two other victims were later presented at a hospital, Barnett said.
Of those two victims, one had been shot, but the other person’s injuries are still being investigated, Barnett said in an email to The Associated Press. Sunday it was unclear whether the person’s injury was the result of a bullet strike or debris such as concrete or glass from the bullet’s impact, Barnett said.
