Montgomery County recommends masking outdoors amid rising COVID-19 cases

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA (WPVI) – Montgomery County Commissioners recommend residents dress up in certain situations while outdoors, regardless of vaccination status, beginning Monday.

Health experts say the county has been at the “high” level of COVID-19 community transmission for more than two weeks.

The CDC recommends wearing a mask in crowded outdoor environments and for activities with close contact with other people who are not fully vaccinated in areas with a high number of COVID-19 cases.

The county says you should start wearing a mask on Monday if you are not able to keep a minimum distance of 6 feet from people who do not live in your home while outdoors.

This recommendation does not apply to those who actively participate in practices, activities or sporting events, whether indoors or outdoors. However, it is recommended not to actively participate, including on the sidewalk, in the locker rooms and on team riding.
