Couple injured in Miami International Airport truck accident looking for lawyer

MIAMI – A couple was injured at Miami International Airport when the truck they were traveling in crashed into the terminal.

It happened Friday around 1:30 pm at MIA’s Concourse D.

The couple was on their engagement trip, but now they are both recovering from their injuries.

An American Airlines spokesman said it was a piece of luggage that fell on the accelerator and caused the crash.

The driver of the car lost control and hit a woman before crashing into a column.

Bridgette Matter of Local 10 News spoke to the couple who said they were in that car.

Kerrina Powell said she has a broken arm and part of her leg is also broken.

“When the car took off, I was against the wall,” he said. “You see my hand is broken, my thumb broken and my lower leg broken.”

Both Powell and her fiancé ‘said they are in the process of being repaired, but they are still in a lot of pain.

“He smashed my fiancé against the wall and kicked me out of the car,” Shannon Clemmons said.

The couple said they were looking to detain a lawyer for possible litigation.
