Javier Báez i Francisco Lindor they hit home runs and the Mets beat the Washington Nationals 13-6 to stay warm in the fight for a spot in the postseason.
Báez beat 4-4 with a home run, three RBIs and two RBIs, while Lindor connected 3-1 with a lone home run and two RBIs.
Báez’s home run was his 28th in the season. He has driven 76 races.
Lindor has hit homers in consecutive games. On Saturday, he fired a two-run homer that broke a tie in the eighth inning.
Lindor’s quadrangular this Sunday was his thirteenth of the season. He extended the lead to 8-6 in the ninth inning, in which the Mets exploded with six runs led by a homer with Kevin Pillar’s full bases.
Báez batted 21-8 from the game that followed the controversy of side-to-side boos between Báez and the Mets fans. Lindor was also involved in the controversy, as was Pillar.
The Mets are playing 69-68 and are three and a half games away from East Division leader Atlanta Braves.
