The Lions relinquish OT Dan Skipper from the injured reserve

The Detroit Lions made a minor roster Monday. The team waived offensive attack injured Dan Skipper from the injured reserve list. Skipper made an injury deal instead of staying on Detroit’s IR list for the year.

Skipper injured his knee in the last preseason game and was resigned with the injury designation. When no other team claimed the 6-foot, 10-foot backup attack, it returned to the Lions’ IR, the same state as OT teammate Tyrell Crosby. He finished his season with the Lions.

Since Skipper agreed to an injury, he is now free to sign with another team and will be eligible to play in 2021 once he is healthy enough to pass a physical test. Skipper played well enough on training camp and preseason to deserve legitimate consideration in Detroit’s final 53-man standings and could gain some interest elsewhere if he can recover from a knee injury.
