BOSTON – Amid a moment of chaos on the roster, the Red Sox had another reunion on Monday by signing Cuban fielder Jose Iglesias, who added to the roster of the big team.
This latest move by the Reds comes three weeks after they added another player who was part of the organization – infielder Travis Shaw – for another stay with the club.
Iglesias’ return, who was sidelined by the Angelinos last Friday, comes at a time when Boston has seen a wave of players move on the disabled list for COVID-19. The team was forced to add to Churches because torpedo boat Xander Bogaerts went on the list.
Churches signed with the Red Sox as an international free agent in 2009. He was part of the exchange between three teams with the Tigers and White Sox that sent opener Jake Peavy to Boston on July 30 of that year. 2013 before helping the Reds conquer the World Series that same year.
