Santo Domingo, RD.
“The cabins are currently being used as free zones for crime,” under this argument MP José Henriquez submitted a bill to regulate the use of motels or cabins.
Faced with the wave of crime affecting the country, the deputy focused on the use given to the cabins and deposited a bill that seeks to identify people who want to make use of these spaces.
In its legislative piece it establishes that the people who make use of these centers must present / display an identity card or passport to enter.
The bill that seeks to regulate the use of motels and cabins in the Dominican Republic so that anyone who wants to go to these centers must present their identification. We do this in the sense of contributing against crime. It is not possible for cabins and motels in our country to be used to rape girls and boys, to traffic in drugs, to kidnap people and for criminals to hide, “said the representative of Santo Domingo Est.
The project also indicates that in case of non-compliance with the presentation of an identification, the cabin may be sanctioned with closure for three months and a fine of 50 minimum wages.
What does not hint at the project is some aspect of confidentiality and the use of identifications offered by potential customers.
“This is supposed to be a state, which is a society that must promote good coexistence, live in a family. It is supposed that the state must promote values such as fidelity and that this must be a goal to be promoted by the “Dominican state,” commented Henriquez.
The project has the support of at least 20 lawmakers from the lower house.
