Honda is scheduled to take over Subaru and its The desert cut packages. The mark announced that a new off-road equipment called TrailSport will debut on select models.

Honda claims the TrailSport features will be built for the adventure and that the company has relied on more than 50 years of off-road and outdoor experience to make it so. Dave Gardner, Honda’s vice president of operations, said TrailSport will appeal to those looking for adventure.

TrailSport represents the next chapter in our rugged steering and will bring an exclusive style to our existing light trucks that will appeal to adventure-seeking buyers. Our team of American engineers is leveraging more than 20 years of experience in creating high-capacity light trucks to develop this new series of adventure-ready vehicles.

So what will a Honda TrailSport vehicle do?

The first models to incorporate the TrailSport treatment will feature a sturdy front and back style, durable linings and exclusive interior touches, including high-contrast orange seams and exclusive weatherproof mats that are easier to clean. With Honda’s best four-wheel drive i-VTM4 ™ traction system, which will want to stop, they’ll want to get their roads dirty without sacrificing comfort or the best road dynamics of the brand’s light trucks.

So they will be badges, rugged-looking body liners, a rugged style, more robust tires and slightly higher driving heights. Everything you need to venture on a dirt road or at least look like you could venture on a dirt road at some point in the future, if necessary. Honda doesn’t say which models will receive the TrailSport treatment, but unless they have a new truck or roll up their sleeves, it’s not hard to guess. There are only four crossovers and one pickup in training. And from the teasers released by Honda, it seems that the first model may be the Passport. TrailSport models will begin shipping later this year.
