Three new deaths from COVID-19 in Lincoln

LINCOLN, Nebraska (KOLN) – The Lincoln County Health Department Lancaster reported Tuesday that three more people have died from COVID-19.

Pat Lopez, director of the Lincoln-Lancaster County Department of Health, said the deaths were all men: one in his forties, one in his fifties and one in his seventies. Lopez said two of the three people who died were not vaccinated.

The health department said there were a total of 274 cases of COVID-19 over the holiday weekend: 139 on Saturday, 76 on Sunday, 59 on Monday. On Tuesday, 159 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Lancaster County.

Lopez said our community lost 30 people to COVID-19 in August, with 9 of those under 60. a twenty-year-old person.

Lopez said our community lost 52 people against COVID-19 between March and August, with 83% of those people not being vaccinated.

Hospitalizations for COVID-19 positive patients: 93 with 63 from Lancaster County (4 with fans) and 30 from other communities (4 with fans)

  • Vaccines completed (second dose and J&J vaccine): 184,309
  • Residents aged 16 and over who are fully vaccinated: 71.6%
