The only player the Yankees could not afford to miss Tuesday’s game against the Blue Jays in the tense fourth inning in the left hamstrings, the team announced.
Staff ace Gerrit Cole had already allowed three runs (two wins) when he made a signal to coach after a sacrifice by Toronto player Reese McGuire McGuire for the second of the quarter. After a brief discussion with manager Aaron Boone, Cole came out of the mound with the Yankees ending 3-1.

Cole, 31, entered the game with a 14-6 record and an ERA of 2.73 with 215 attacks in 25 starts this season. He also delivered a solo run to Alejandro Kirk in the second inning.
He was replaced by reliever Albert Abreu, who removed the Yankees from the entrance without further damage.
