In recent days, zebras have been seen roaming the neighborhoods of Upper Marlboro, Maryland.
Chopper4 saw six zebras in a field Tuesday afternoon.
Layla Curling said Thursday she was looking out the window of the Upper Marlboro family home when she made a double take.
Stunned and excited, she ran to tell her mother that she saw a zebra in the back garden.
“I thought it was a deer for a second and then I saw that it was a zebra, a whole zebra next to our playground next to the fence. Then I ran upstairs to look better up there and then I said, “Mom, there’s a zebra outside our playground,” and he didn’t believe me and said he was crazy, ”Layla told News4.
Chopper4 flew over a pack of zebras that were seen going wild on Tuesday in Maryland.
Her mother didn’t believe her at first, but then she also made a double take.
There wasn’t just one zebra. There were three.
“I called 311 and I thought I was crazy, I thought I was crazy. He paused for a long minute. I said, ‘Ma’am, I’m not drinking. I haven’t had any drugs. I have Zebras in the back garden walking down the train tracks. I just wanted to know what service could come out because I didn’t want them to be hit and she stopped for a long time and then said, “Okay, here’s the number,” Layla’s mother, Alexis Reed Curling, said.
“How in the world could there be zebras?” Layla’s father, Paul Curling, said.
The zebras are legally owned and apparently escaped from a farm, animal control officials told News4.
They are now in a field, where the animal control set up a feeding station so that officers can try to corral the animals.
