Juanma López, former world champion in two divisions, is arrested in Puerto Rico

The former world champion in two divisions, Juan Manuel ‘Juanma’ López, Was arrested Tuesday in Puerto Rico after allegations of domestic violence.

The Puerto Rican spug (36-6-1, 32 KO’s) was handed over to authorities in the evening after 1 ex-partner reported him for alleged physical and psychological abuse.

The person, identified as Andrea Ojeda, first made some posts on social media on Tuesday, showing a few blows to the face. Also a video, next to an unidentified person attacking her, who is presumed – by his voice – is Lopez himself.

The other time winner of the 122 and 126 pound sceptres, saw action for the last time in 2019. It was crowned in 2008 after lightning Daniel Ponce de León (45-7, 35 KO’s) and, after five successful defenses, gained weight to challenge and win Steven Luevano (37-2, 15KO’s).

The Boricua lost unbeaten in 2011 to Orlando Exit (44-14-4, 31 KO’s), with whom he also succumbed the following year in revenge. From here, he recorded a 4-4-1 record.

Lopez was charged with gender-based violence in 2015 and later arrested for beating his then-wife.
