An employee prepares a package for shipment to Amazon’s logistics center in Suelzetal, eastern Germany, on May 12, 2021.
Happy Labor Day! If you are waiting for a package to be delivered, you will not have to wait longer than usual during the three-day weekend. Amazon will deliver packages on Labor Day 2021 and provide its usual services, a spokesman confirmed to Heavy.
Amazon delivery is not taken on a day off for Labor Day. In fact, the company is in the midst of a massive increase to increase its delivery services and compete with other major shipping companies such as UPS and FedEx, CNBC reported. Amazon also plans to launch its own TV line, according to PC Mag.
Here’s what you need to know:
Amazon made recent changes to its delivery services to compete with UPS and FedEx
Amazon is expanding its services as part of a move CNBC described as a “spending party.” The company is now moving cargo to other companies, which, according to the article, was a strategy to compete directly with other shipping companies, such as UPS and FedEx.
“They want to be a new kind of U.S. postal service where anything can get anywhere, but also quickly,” e-commerce consultant Chris McCabe told CNBC.
McCabe was also a seller performance researcher at Amazon from 2006 to 2012, according to the article.
Amazon has a massive shipping fleet, seven years after it began building its global transportation network, CNBC reported. Amazon has completed 1 trillion deliveries and employs 400,000 drivers worldwide. Its fleet includes 40,000 semi-trailers, 30,000 vans and 75 aircraft.
Amazon opened a $ 1.5 billion Amazon Air hub in Kentucky in August, CNBC reported.
A study published by DePaul University’s Chaddick Institute for Metropolitan Development said Amazon Air operates 42 U.S. airports after adding regular flights from seven airports in the past six months. The study shows that after expanding in the spring and summer of 2021, Amazon now has a presence at airports within 100 miles of 70% of the U.S. population.
Amazon plans to launch a TV line starting in 2021
Amazon has plans to launch its own TV line, according to Insider. The TVs could be launched from 2021, according to the article, after two years of development work by the Amazon Devices and Lab126 team.
“However, very little is known about the device, including how it will differentiate itself from other TVs that use the company’s Fire TV software,” PC Mag reported.
The TVs are being designed in partnership with third-party companies, including TCL, Insider reported, but they will still carry the Amazon brand.
“Amazon already sells TVs with Fire TV, but they still carry the brands of their manufacturers. These next TVs will have the Amazon brand even if they are manufactured by third-party companies, similar to the AmazonBasics TVs that the e-commerce giant sells. in India, ”Engadget reported. “If you remember, the company launched a 55-inch model and a 50-inch model under the AmazonBasics brand in the country last year. According to reports, the models planned for a launch in the US will be in the range of 55 to 75 inches, although we’ll have to wait for more information to see if they’re also lower-cost models like the TVs launched in India. ”
