The Public Ministry has reported the launch of Operation Falcon, an action against drug trafficking and money laundering involving more than 200 agents of the National Directorate of Drug Control (DNCD).
Through the operations, which had more than 60 prosecutors, arrested Juan Maldonado Castro, head of the Directorate General of Dignified Community, as well as Juan José de la Cruz Morales, José Alejandro de la Cruz Morales, Maria Olimpia Tavárez, Lenin Bladimir Torres Bé and Delfina Assumpció Polanco, among others.
Home violations have been taking place since Wednesday morning in Santiago, Santo Domingo, the National District and other geographic demarcations. In total there are about 80 home violations.
Authorities have seized dozens of movable and immovable property, including gas stations, high-end vehicles and luxury watches.
Deputy Attorney General Yeni Berenice Reynoso stressed that the operation is part of the actions directed by the Public Ministry against organized crime.
“The operation is in process, which is why we will provide more details later, but we can advance that this is a complex investigation carried out by the Public Ministry under the guidelines of Magistrate Miriam Germán Brito.”
Santiago’s prosecutors, under the direct responsibility of Osvaldo Bonilla, and DNCD agents, under the direct command of its owner, Rear Admiral José Manuel Cabrera Ulloa, are taking part in the action.
Within international cooperation against organized crime, operations are conducted with the support of the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
