The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade route and public display will return in 2021

(CNN) – Macy’s annual Thanksgiving Day parade will look a lot more like her old self in 2021, with a return to a more traditional route and the public roaming the streets of Manhattan to see it.

What will be different from the long chain of pre-pandemic parades: facial masks and warrants that volunteer participants and staff will be vaccinated for, with few exceptions.

Exceptions, according to organizers, “may be made at the sole discretion of Macy’s and its medical consultant based on certain mitigating circumstances,” a Macy’s statement said Wednesday.

In these cases, Macy’s medical consultants will perform tests on Covid-19, according to the statement.

Regardless of the status of the vaccination, all participants and staff will wear face masks and guaranteed protective equipment during the November 25 event.

In 2020, the parade was for a television-only crowd and the route was shortened to the area around Macy’s flagship store in Herald Square.

The parade will be “closer to the original form”

“For our 95th celebration, we are thrilled to return this beloved festive tradition closer to its original form as we walk the streets of New York City and enter the homes of a national audience,” Will said Coss, executive producer of the parade.

“We are thrilled to welcome you in full shape at Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, a world-renowned celebration that inaugurates the magic of being in New York during the holiday season,” said New York Mayor Bill de Blasio , in the news. release.

In addition, the total number of participants will be reduced from 10% to 20%. There will be social distancing practices.

The performances of marching groups, animation groups and specialized groups scheduled for 2020 will advance this year, organizers said.

Balloons of giant characters return. The return of the Macy’s balloon inflation event is “under consideration,” according to the statement.

Public display locations, entry guidelines, and restrictions will be announced in November, according to the statement.
