The track was in the trailer, but Sony has blue fingers all over Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake. While production is led by a “newly created team of industry veterans developer and publisher Aspyr,” the Japanese giant will release the release on PlayStation 5 and collaborate with the company on the development.
“Nearly 20 years after its debut, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remains one of the most requested remakes by the PlayStation community,” said Eric Lempel, PlayStation’s marketing bigwig. “Finally, it’s the right time to bring this dream to life for both fans and those who haven’t experienced it yet.”
While it will be released as a console exclusive, suggesting it will be rolled out elsewhere later, this is the latest example of Japanese money-hating giant projects that it believes will add value to its console ecosystem. With the purchase of Bethesda by Microsoft and therefore control of the WRPGs, this particular release could demonstrate a cunning investment by the Japanese giant.
