According to the order, the Sanjuaneras asked Judge Cuevas Ramos to, among other things, declare illogical the position of the FPV to prohibit the replacement of a player due to pregnancy.
They also asked him to declare that the FPV “did not act in accordance with regulations” and to legitimize “discriminatory conduct” of the Federation.
Finally, the santjoaneras requested that Cuevas Ramos “reverse” the decision of the FPV to cancel the final series of Volleyball Superior, as well as its determination to declare champions to the Creoles of Caguas.
The lawyer Víctor Vélez opined to this medium that the hurdle that the lawyers of the Sanjuaneras must overcome is the own regulation of the FPV, in which it does not appear the word “pregnancy” like reason to approve the substitution of a player reinforcement. The regulation only authorizes substitutions for “injury.”
Vélez added that the FPV will state that, in process, the Sanjuaneras went ahead to go to the Court of San Juan because, first, they must exhaust an appeal for reconsideration to the International Volleyball Federation which governs the FPV. Vélez added that the FPV will argue that it executed the regulations approved by the representatives of the Superior Volleyball teams, such as the Sanjuaneras.
Vélez believes the Sanjuaneras have room to show that a pregnancy can be considered an injury. He also understands that Cuevas Ramos will see the case on its merits even if it is proven that, procedurally, the plaintiffs had to go to the International Federation before Court.

In the order, the Sanjuaneras allege that the FPV was illogical in its interpretation of the rules and that it acted out of regulation by prohibiting substitution without requesting a “medical doctor” to accredit the pregnancy. .
Coves Ramos advanced the legal representatives to be prepared in the hearing to present evidence and witnesses, if necessary.
The court hearing revolves around the Sanjuaneras’ request to replace their player reinforcement Destinee Hooker for pregnancy and the disauthorization of this action by the FPV and the Court of Appeal and Sports Arbitration of Copur, because the regulations of the FPV provide for replacing players by “injury”, among other arguments.
As a result, the Sanjuaneras did not appear in rebellion in the final series before the Creoles and the FPV decided by regulation to cancel the final series, to suspend to the equipment of San Juan and to declare champion to the one of Caguas.
