CID Gallup: Most believe Nasry Asfura will be the president

THE CURRENT PREFERENCE OF POLITICAL PARTIES

question: Which is your favorite political party or which party do you belong to?

The ruling party – the National – has the most supporters.

It is followed in this sense tied by the Liberal and FREE. One in three Hondurans has no preference. Salvador Nasralla’s Salvadoran Honduras Party has the least support. The most important thing in a country where there is no second round is that the opposition parties are more or less equal to the National in terms of support. None of the opposition reaches the National.

TENDENCY OF THE CURRENT PREFERENCE OF POLITICAL PARTIES

question: What is your favorite political party?

The National Party has been the main country since 2009 when a division within the Liberal Party occurred. An important group left the Liberal and formed FREE, led by former President Manuel “Mel” Zelaya. Still gathered Liberal and FREE do not reach the flow of the National, which has more or less one of three citizens within its group.

CHANCE OF VOTING

question: This year we have elections in our country. How likely are you to vote in this election?

61% of respondents state that it is: “a lot” or “something” likely to vote in the November election. This coincides with the effective participation in 2017. The more educated the respondent agrees, the better his economic situation compared to last year; more likely to go to the polls. People who have political party preference will most likely vote – then the data of those who do have a party are very important.

POLITICAL ISSUES

question: How much importance do you give to the political affairs of our country ?; Do you think that with the elections change in the country could be brought about?

Those who believe in the importance of country affairs and that elections can change the situation are more likely to go to the polls. This coincides with other data that has been seen – the voter is more positive overall, the one who does not vote is more likely to want to emigrate.

VOTING INTENT

question: If the presidential election were today, which of the following would you vote for?

Asfura leads the voting intention 79 days before the election. Second, tied are Nasralla and Xiomara. In fourth place is the liberal Yani Rosenthal. Important to highlight the data of those who are “very safe to vote.” There Asfura has more advantage over Castro, who is in second. What is most apparent in a country without a second round is that if the opposition were united it would win the election.

IMAGE PUBLIC FIGURES

question: What is your opinion of (public figure name)? And I would like you to tell me if you have a favorable or unfavorable opinion of each.

Tito Asfura is the public figure with the most favorable opinions towards his person, with an advantage over the other presidential candidates. This flow of favorability has been maintained for the last three years. He is followed by Salvador Nasralla and then Xiomara Castro. Contrary to the above, the one who receives the most negative opinions is Juan Orlando Hernández. However, it should be noted that two out of five informants still now think well of him. These five names are the most prominent in national politics and it is striking that they all have relatively high flows of negative opinions.

EVALUATION OF MAYOR’S WORKS – SANT PERE SULA AND TEGUCIGALPA

question: What is your opinion of the way Armando Calidonio / Tito Asfura carries out his duties as mayor of our city?

Nasry “Tito” Asfura, until he retired these days, has been a very popular mayor of the capital city; even now that he is a presidential candidate he is still being evaluated well for those in the capital. However, he has lowered his rating mainly as a result of his involvement in his country’s electoral policy.

Armando Calidonio, mayor of San Pedro Sula, has not been evaluated as well as Asfura. It is only now, as the elections approach, that one in three Sampedranos misjudges his management in this place.
