The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, acknowledged that there is slowness in some processes, such as the construction of works, but said that this is because in this way they are more “transparent”.
In leading the inauguration of the Sanctuary of San Cristo in Bayaguana, Monte Plata this Friday, the president also assured that he will continue the positive works of his predecessors in office.
Prior to speaking at the inauguration of the shrine, the religious who spoke just mentioned works promised by the president, among which they have mentioned the rehabilitation and construction of two roads.
Abinader, in addition to responding and promising them the completion of the two works, said the delay is due to issues related to the transparency of the processes.
“One situation we have is slowness. Many times we want to do things but we have to follow certain procedures, because this government is committed to transparency and many times transparency means that we have to last a little longer because we need to, ”he expressed.
He also said that the culmination of the first stage of the sanctuary is part of the continuation of his predecessors, who began the work.
“Immediately we had our first meetings with Archbishop Ozoria, we pledged to continue this work, to continue, because as president, not only is this work, but I have decided to have the state policy of continuing the works that they have made my predecessors, ”he commented.
And in a sense, he has assured that the works for the second stage of the Sanctuary will be budgeted for the year 2022 and could be executed by the new ministry of Housing and Buildings.
“We will always be supporting the Catholic Church, they will always have our support. Because we need a society that can develop eocnomientamente but will never be sustainable if it does not develop with values,” said Abinader.
The work was initiated in the Government of the ex-president Leonel Fernandez, continued and inaugurated for the first time in the one of Danilo Medina and concluded the first stage in this management of Abinader.
It is estimated that the value of the work exceeds RD $ 300 million, money that was mostly provided by the government.
