DETROIT – A major health care provider in southeast Michigan said 92% of employees were fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by Friday’s deadline.
Another 3% received the first shot, said Henry Ford Health System, which has more than 30,000 workers.
“We are confident that vaccination, along with masking, remains the most powerful tool we have against the pandemic,” Henry Ford Health said in a statement.

Employees will be suspended if they do not get at least one dose before midnight or do not schedule an appointment. They will lose their jobs if they are not fully vaccinated on October 1st. There are some exceptions.
Separately, a lawsuit challenging vaccine policy was suddenly withdrawn Friday before a federal court hearing.

The Detroit-based health system has five acute hospitals: four in the Detroit area and one in Jackson. He has treated thousands of people with COVID-19.
