The Mexican successfully defended the CMB Superpluma belt by unanimous decision in Tucson, Arizona
the Mexican Óscar Valdez scored the first successful defense of the Superpluma scepter of the World Boxing Council with a controversial victory by unanimous decision over Brazilian Robson Conceiçao.
Despite Conceiçao’s extensive dominance throughout the 12 rounds, the judges gave favorable cards 115-112, 115-112 and a scandalous 117-110 for Valdez, who ended up more punished in the face.
The Brazilian Conceiçao took advantage of his advantage in reach to punish the Mexican with his jab and combinations on the face, causing cuts in the cheekbones of the sonorense, who failed to hurt the South American.
According to Compubox, Conceiçao ended up connecting 141 times for just 83 of Valdez.
