Mexican Julio Uries remains undefeated in the last 81 days in MLB in the league’s eighth win

Mexican left-hander Julio Uries established himself as the top winner in the big leagues, and also remained undefeated for just over two and a half months, throwing three-set seven-strikeouts in seven innings, in the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-0 win over the San Diego Padres on Friday night.

Uries, who missed an opening last month in the fall on the injured list for 10 days, has reached eight straight wins since winning his first game in July and reaffirmed himself as the leader of Grans victories. Leagues at 17, two more than Adam Wainwright, his closest pursuer.

The Sinaloa native, who secured his second win over San Diego in just over two weeks, reached 81 days unbeaten, after falling for the last time on June 21 against the same Fathers. Since then he has an 8-0 record in 13 openings.

In front of 48,403 Dodger Stadium fans, Uries (17-3) only gave up one base for balls in his 94-pitching bout – of which 64 were strikes. Its effectiveness fell below 3.00 for the first time since May 2 (2.87) when it dropped to 2.98.

On July 16 its effectiveness reached 3.78, but since then it has gone down without a point. In a couple of outings in September, it has a 2-0 record and 0.71 in effectiveness with 15 strikeouts in 12.2 episodes.

Uries is placed 12th in effectiveness in all greats, and 19th in strikes with 175. In the National League he is tenth in ERA and twelfth in prescribed “chocolates”.

His 17 victories place him as the fifth Mexican to achieve it in one season and first since Yovani Gallardo achieved it for the only time in 2011.
