Abinader delivers sanctuary and promises more works for Muntanya Plata

With hundreds of people present at the ceremony that officially opened the Sanctuary of St. Christ of the Miracles, President Luis Abinader and the high Catholic hierarchy led a Mass of dedication to the religious structure yesterday.

Abinader also took advantage of the occasion, and after the reminder of ecclesiastical authorities, promised to rehabilitate and finish two roads that connect to the province of Muntanya Plata

Since the early hours of yesterday Friday, hundreds of parishioners from the community of Bayaguana have been stationed in the vicinity of the sanctuary to attend the Mass made official by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Santo Domingo, Monsignor Francesc Ozoria Acosta.

Mass and celebration began at 10:00 a.m. and lasted until just after 1:00 p.m., with the Dominican president being one of the last to speak. At the beginning of his presentation, Abinader expressed that “they will always support the Catholic Church” and that from the first meeting with the archbishop he undertook to conclude the sanctuary.

“Immediately we had our first meeting with Archbishop Osoria, we pledged to continue this work, to continue, because as president not only is this work, but I have decided to have the state policy of continuing the works that have made my predecessors “, comment.

In this regard, the president announced that the second stage of the construction of the sanctuary has already been approved, which will include the perimeter mesh, offices and service areas. In addition to the sanctuary, and in response to one of the priests who had previously taken the floor, Abinader reported that the rehabilitation of the Mella road to Bayaguana had already begun last Monday.

Similarly, he said that the road from Bayaguana to the province of Hato Major, initiated in the government of Hipólito Mejía, will “try” to finish it this year and, if not completed, will be completed next February.

Grabbing the microphone after being congratulated on his five years in office, Monsignor Ozoria said “a lot of money” was invested in the Holy Christ of Miracles Sanctuary and that “there will be people who criticize the investment.”

FOR GOD
Investment.

“Here we have invested a lot of effort, a lot of resources, a lot of money. The government has supported us with a lot of money, but without care we have dedicated it to God and an investment in God will always be small,” said Ozoria, who recalled the three presidents who committed themselves to the construction of this Sanctuary.
