Former U.S. President Donald Trump took the opportunity on Saturday to address the winner of the main event of Triller Fight Club Legends II.
Shortly after former UFC lightweight champion Vitor Belfort did a quick job of boxing legend Evander Holyfield in his main fight, Trump, who was making secondary comments about the event, spoke with the captive audience at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla.
Along with Trump, in the comment box, was his son, Donald Trump Jr., former UFC Junior Heavyweight Champion Junior Dos Santos and welterweight contender Jorge Masvidal.
“You’re a fighter,” Trump said. I have to tell you that you have a couple of friends between Jorge and Junior, and my son, my ‘junior’, said you will do fantastically well … I said, ‘Okay, but boxing isn’t his thing. ‘Junior said,’ Yeah, you just look at it. ‘”
The former heavyweight champion proved that the former president was right in his prediction, as Belfort did a quick job from Holyfield getting a quick TKO in the first round.
Before the fight in an interview that took place a few seconds before entering the ring, Belfort ended his statements with the slogan of Trump’s presidential campaign: “Let’s make America great again!”
The former president thanked Belfort for the message, as did most of the people who attended the music that sang Trump’s name all night. “You’re a great patriot and we appreciate that,” Trump added when he spoke to Belfort.
“Vitor, your shares were very high, but tonight is even higher because you beat someone who, I don’t know, I think is probably one of the greatest of all time,” Trump continued. “There is no doubt about Evander and we love Evander. I know Evander and I’ve never seen that happen to Evander. I’ve been with Evander for a long time and it’s just one of those things, you were really great. “
Trump also briefly proposed the idea of creating a showdown between Masvidal or Dos Santos as Belfort’s next opponent within the boxing ring, but it looks like Triller would like to create a showdown between Belfort and Jake Paul.
