Mission accomplished!
After several setbacks, discouraging delays, production problems and government shutdowns due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, director Christopher McQuarrie finished filming Mission: Impossible 7 after more than a year.
And on Saturday, McQuarrie took to Instagram to mark the milestone with a black-and-white photo of himself and protagonist Tom Cruise.

The triumphant couple could be seen sitting on top of a crashed train on set MI7.
“All you need are good people,” McQuarrie, 53, began, before turning his attention and gratitude to those who made it all possible.
“For our indomitable, unstoppable and relentless cast and crew: even in the best of circumstances, it should have been impossible,” he continued.
“Even after seeing it, we can’t believe what you’ve achieved.”
McQuarrie ended the post by sharing: “Words can never adequately express our gratitude and admiration, not just to you, but to your loved ones. You are the best in the world.

A big compliment: McQuarrie called the cast and crew “indomitable, unstoppable and relentless,” when he shared the news of the film: “Even in the best of circumstances, it should have been impossible.”
In the photo, the two men look in the same direction in which they sat on the overturned train following a daring trick in Derbyshire, a county in the East Midlands of England.
Cruise, 59, parachuted out of a helicopter, causing the Norwegian train to crash on the edge of a cliff and be suspended upside down over large trees.
To make filming even more complicated during the pandemic and subsequent health and safety protocols, p.the roduction spread to parts of Italy, Norway, and England. There were several scenes that had been relocated, sometimes to another city, town, or country, due to a number of problems related to protocols and restrictions during production.

MI7 is the third film in the McQuarrie-directed franchise, which also starred in the previous two: Rogue Nation (2015) and Fallout (2018).
And, as a result of all the problems and delays in production, the plan to go straight to the shooting of an eighth film Mission: Impossible, with the direction of McQuarrie, had to be left behind, as Deadline previously reported. .
Along with Cruise, Mission: Impossible 7 also stars Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Hayley Atwell, Vanessa Kirby, Henry Czerny, Esai Morales and Frederick Schmidt, among others.
It is now scheduled to premiere in the United States on September 30, 2022.
After having been initially scheduled for the August 5, 2022 release date, the scheduled eighth film was withdrawn twice and will now fall on July 7, 2023.
