Covid Confusion at the CDC

The United States invests heavily in health care but cannot answer basic questions about Covid-19. Some of the best research comes from Israel. U.S. public health agencies should produce data on advanced infections, drivers, and natural immunity. But the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has not provided the information needed to report a solid Covid strategy.

Israel began its vaccine deployment with Pfizer in December, just days after the U.S.. But Israel kept good data, reported it frequently and quickly, and used it to keep track of subsequent covid infections. When the White House announced its plan to recommend a booster shot for all Americans, it cited Israeli data. The World Health Organization and others criticized the plan, saying the evidence was insufficient and, in what appeared to be a coordinated protest, two prominent scientists from the Food and Drug Administration abruptly resigned.
