The latest edition of the 37th edition of the US News & World Report Top Universities ranking was published Monday and the national University of Valedictorian remains Princeton University.

High school students are back in the classrooms this fall, and while the new school year is beginning, there is now a big decision on the horizon: finding the right college.
One of the resources for choosing schools has been the ranking of Best News News & World Report Universities. The 37th edition was published Monday and the valedictorian among American universities remains Princeton University.
Columbia University, Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, which were close to the top ranking last year, tied for second place in this year’s ranking. The remaining top 50 also showed few changes.
Some of the major schools in the region, however, also got good grades. Johns Hopkins University ranked ninth overall, while Georgetown University ranked 23rd and the University of Virginia 25th.
Other prominent generals were William & Mary (38th), the University of Maryland – College Park (59th), George Washington University (63rd), Virginia Tech (75th) and American University (79th).
Some also did well in the ranking of the best public schools: the University of Virginia ranked fourth overall, with William & Mary at No. 10 and the University of Maryland at No. 20. The University of California – Los Angeles Angeles topped this particular list.
And among the “best values” of national universities, the three regional highlights were Gallaudet University of DC (12th), Johns Hopkins (16th) and the University of Virginia (31st).
Yale University topped this “best value” list.
Another prominent venue is the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. He topped the general list of public liberal arts colleges, surpassing the United States Military Academy (No. 2) at West Point, New York; the United States Air Force Academy (No. 3) in Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Virginia Military Institute (No. 4) in Lexington.
US News collected data from more than 1,800 schools and ranked more than 1,400 in various areas.

In addition to its nationwide rankings, US News also took a look at comparing schools with others in one of the four regions.
Loyola University Maryland ranked fourth among the top universities in the north, while James Madison University and Christopher Newport University, both in Virginia, ranked third and sixth, respectively, in the south.
A new element of the latest rankings is the evaluation of the best university nursing programs in the country. And while the highlight among the nearly 700 ranked was the University of Pennsylvania, some institutions close to their home also did well.
The University of Maryland – Baltimore and the University of Virginia were tied for 10th place on the list. Also noteworthy were the nursing programs of Virginia Commonwealth University (23rd), George Washington (31st) and Catholic University of America (43rd).
