The fourth wave of VOCID-19 in Florida has hit hard, with many infections, a significant rise in hospitalizations and an increase in severe cases. But the latest numbers are positive. With a downward trend that began ten days ago, Sunday was reported that in the state there are 11,701 people hospitalized with COVID-19, According to the Department of Health and Human Services, which is based on data from 259 state hospitals.

While it is still a high number, they are 521 people less than Saturday and 950 people less than the previous Friday. In percentages, for Sunday, COVID patients accounted for 20.06% of the total number of people hospitalized in the state. The day before they were 20.75 percent.

Among the more than 11,000 hospitalized with COVID, 2,828 are in intensive care. This metric is also improving, as there were 2,885 on Saturday. To put it in percentage perspective, it dropped from 43.58% of intensive care beds in the state to 43.22% in a single day.

It is still too early for authorities to declare that Florida is out of the danger zone with COVID, the fact that the last ten days have been down indicates the first positive pattern in the last two months.

The unknown figure is that of deaths from COVID-19, as the state decided not to grant this figure on a daily basis. The last fact in this respect is known that in the last month 969 people died as a result of the virus in the state. 57% of these deaths died in the last two weeks.

As some experts are encouraged to theorize, Florida has already had its peak with the Delta variant, And as with other peaks (such as last winter, which in the northern hemisphere was in January), after two months the number of cases begins to decline.

Between the increase in the percentage of people vaccinated, plus those who were infected and overcame the virus generating more antibodies, the population is beginning to become stronger in the face of the virus.

In Florida, to this day, 25.8 million doses of COVID 19 vaccine have been administered, with a total of 55 percent of the general population vaccinated. A total of 3,442,090 people in Florida have been infected with the virus since March 2020, when they began counting cases.

In counties like Miami-Dade, The most densely populated in the state, vaccination figures are better than in the state. 55 percent of the general population is vaccinated, but when it comes to particular populations, such as over the age of 65, 99 percent have received at least one dose of the vaccine.

For more than four months there are no restrictions on placing the vaccine in Florida. Anyone, regardless of their immigration status or place of residence, who is over 12 years old, can be immunized in the state without the need to present any specific document.
