Holiday Jobs 2021: See the list of companies that hire seasonal employees

Their ads come when big chains expect strong holiday demand from buyers, despite the risks the Delta variant may pose to consumer spending. Consulting firm KPMG predicts holiday sales for U.S. retailers will grow 7% over last year, according to a survey conducted in August on 114 retail executives.
Like last year, many of the jobs advertised so far are related to the delivery of goods online, such as mail carriers and warehouse workers. New this year are improved recruitment tactics, ranging from login bonuses to job offers within half an hour of submitting the application.
Although employers post jobs, there is no guarantee that they will be able to occupy them. U.S. companies are having trouble hiring staff right now and there were a record 10.9 million jobs in July, according to the latest data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

These are some of the top employers who have said they hire holiday workers so far.

SAI

SAI (SAI) hires 100,000 full-time and part-time temporary workers to meet the demand for holiday delivery, the same number the company earned last year.

Roles are primarily for package drivers, drivers, and driver assistants, who assist drivers on delivery routes.

“This is the tightest hiring market we’ve ever seen,” said UPS spokesman Dan McMackin. UPS is adjusting to increasing hourly pay in some markets, with features starting at $ 15 per hour and offering sign-in bonuses for hiring seasonal employees.

The company also speeds up application times for holiday rentals. In the past, job candidates had to wait up to two weeks to receive an offer. This year, UPS is committed to offering many features within 30 minutes.

United States Postal Service

The U.S. Postal Service attracts more than 40,000 workers to handle mail and packaging shipments during the agency’s busiest season.

The postal service is looking for mail operators, mail managers and drivers in cities and rural areas. Around 60 job fairs are held across the country where candidates can apply, more events than the agency usually organizes.

Typically, the postal service adds seasonal staff, although the number varies by year, the agency’s spokesman, David Partenheimer, said in an email.

Kohl’s

Kohl’s (KSS) wants to add 90,000 seasonal workers to stores and warehouses to meet customer demand, a figure similar to last year.

New for this year: Kohl workers will be able to receive a bonus ranging from $ 100 to $ 400 to work during the holiday stretch.

Kohl’s also hires seasonal employees for the first time at a new e-commerce compliance center in Etna, Ohio, and beauty consultants for Sephora mini-stores at 200 Kohl’s stores.

Michaels

The Michaels craft chain has more than 20,000 employees in stores and distribution centers, 25% more than last year.

Michaels said in an announcement last month that it offers competitive wages, flexible hours and a 30% discount to seasonal workers. Last year, Michaels hired more than half of the seasonal stores workers in permanent positions.

These foods disappeared from grocery stores last year. Now they are back
The arts and crafts industry has grown during the pandemic and people spend more time at home. Michaels’ sales in stores opened for at least one year increased by 4.8% in 2020 over the previous year.

1-800-Flowers.com

1-800-Flowers.com (FLWS) it plans to hire more than 10,000 seasonal workers, a figure similar to last year.

The floral retailer will bring together 10,000 employees to deliver food and gifts to customers of its brands, including Harry & David and Cheryl’s Cookies.

He wants to occupy full-time and part-time positions in “high-volume key areas,” such as gift assembly. Most of the papers are in Illinois, Ohio and Oregon.

The company is offering bonuses and increased pay to re-hire, said Steve Lightman, chairman of the company’s gourmet food and gift basket group.

These moves are “at the same level as last year,” Lightman said, and the company is exploring other incentives such as product gifts and raffles to attract workers.

Ollie’s Bargain Outlet

Chain of discounts Ollie’s Bargain Outlet (OLLI) wants to add more than 3,000 workers for the holidays.
That figure has risen slightly from last year due to the growth of new stores, an Ollie spokesman said in an email. Ollie’s opened more than 40 stores last year.

Ollie’s hires store and warehouse locations.

The retailer offers no new incentive to attract workers this year, the spokesman said, but has begun to stay in person hiring events for the first time to reach a wider group of applicants.
