the Institute of Forensic Medicine and Forensic Sciences of Aragon (IMLCFA) has been approved by the Human Resources Commission of the National Health System for the training of specialists in Forensic and Forensic Medicine via MIR after the request made by the Government of Aragon to the Ministry of Health.
This approval has taken a decisive step with the publication in the Official State Gazette (BOE) last Saturday, September 11, of an Order of the Ministry of Health by which eight places were created for the training of these specialists in Forensic and Forensic Medicine via MIR, One of which has been awarded to Aragon, As reported by the Government of Aragon in a press release
The rest of the places called at the BOE last Saturday they have corresponded to the state -four-, for the Autonomous Communities with means not transferred to Justice, and the institutes of Forensic Medicine of Catalonia, the Basque Country and the Valencian Community. The MIR exam has been set for next January 29th.
The Director General of Justice of the Government of Aragon, María Angeles Júlvez León, has stated that the start of training in this specialty is “a success for Forensic Medicine in Spain“In the same way that it is a historic milestone for the IMLCF of Aragon to be one of the centers that is accredited as a teaching unit”.
Julvez noted that in this way “the presence of resident inpatients is guaranteed for training in Forensic and Forensic Medicine from the year 2022 “.
A great challenge
He also stated that it is “a great challenge for IMLCFA professionals, Which have seen their professional capacity recognized and strengthened at the national level “.
Residents who are trained in the IMLCFA they will rotate for 24 months for hospital services of Zaragoza, while over another 24 months they will complete their training in the Teaching Unit of the Institute itself.
With the accreditation received, Aragon is in a position to train future forensics since in a short time the oppositions to the body of forensic doctors as they are known at present will disappear and it will be demanded, to be able to accede to this body, to be specialist in legal medicine via MIR.
The Government of Aragon intends to offer this training every year in order to have professionals who ensure the quality and replacement of existing positions in the Institute of Forensic Medicine and Forensic Sciences.
