Billie Eilish agreed to bring Oscar de la Renta to the Met Gala on the condition that he stop selling leather

At just 19, Billie Eilish has made an impact in the fashion world.

The “Happier Than Ever” singer is known for her unique fashion sense from the start of her career and made waves with her Oscar-designed Laundry look at the Met Gala on Monday night.

However, before agreeing to bring the company’s design, a big decision for any Met Gala attendee, he had one important condition: stop selling leather.

According to the New York Times, Eilish, a well-known animal rights activist and vegan for years, insisted that the major fashion house stop selling the material to agree to collaborate with them.

The designer had slowly begun the process of phasing out the skin and had not used it on the catwalks for several years because he found it irrelevant, according to the Times, but he still sold the material in stores due to of a “significant amount of sales and profits,” CEO Alex Bolen said.

However, the singer’s request led to his decision to stop selling these pieces.
