A 12-foot, 500-pound alligator captured and killed by Louisiana officers this week after being suspected of fatally attacking a 71-year-old man after Hurricane Ida, had human remains in his stomach.
Timothy Satterlee has been missing since he was attacked by an alligator in the waters of the floodwaters outside his home on August 30 in the suburb of Slidell, New Orleans.
After witnessing the attack, his wife was able to throw him up the stairs of his house still alive, but when he again sought help on a small boat, he was gone.
Authorities have been searching for Satterlee for two weeks and the alligator was captured and killed by deputies and wildlife officials Monday in the area where Satterlee disappeared.

The coroner has not yet determined whether the remains belong to Satterlee, FOX 8 reported in New Orleans.
“This is a horrible tragedy and my sincere condolences and sympathy go out to the Satterlee family,” Randy Smith, the sheriff of St. Mary’s Parish, said Monday. Tammany, according to FOX 8. Ida had caused widespread flooding and had eliminated electrical and telephone service in parts of southern Louisiana when it hit land on August 29.
