The mother of a girl who was abducted from her home when she was 6 years old was finally reunited with her daughter after almost 14 years, local authorities in Florida reported on Monday.
Angelica Vences Salgado alerted authorities on September 2 after receiving a message through Social Networks of someone who claimed to be Jacqueline Hernandez, the girl he had not seen and about whom he had not heard from since 2007, according to the Clermont Police Department.
Hernandez was allegedly kidnapped by her father, Pablo Hernandez, in Clermont, Florida. In December of this year an arrest warrant was issued against him for this alleged crime.
In the social media message, the woman who claimed to be Jacqueline Hernandez told Vences Salgado that she was in Mexico, and asked her to meet with her Friday at the point of entry into Laredo, Texas, according to police.

Officials “determined that the woman was indeed Jacqueline Hernandez, who was abducted from her mother in 2007. At approximately 4:55 a.m., Jacqueline, now 19, successfully reunited with her mother. “, Police said in a press release that included a photo of the women smiling and hugging.

No details have been given about Jacqueline Hernandez’s life since her abduction. Clermont police captain Michael McMaster told the New York Post that it is unclear why the young woman decided to reunite with her mother so long afterwards and that there is still a active arrest warrant for 43-year-old father.
“We haven’t had a chance to talk to her directly […]. Everything indicates that the father continues to reside in Mexico. We are working with other agencies to locate it, “he wrote in an email to the quoted medium.
