Shubert’s comments responded to writing cues found in a book called “642 Things to Write.” which had been distributed to some high students of the school who were taking a college credit course.
The material included asking students to “write a sex scene you wouldn’t show your mother,” “rewriting the sex scene from above in one that you would let your mother read,” and another to ask students to take a beer and to describe its taste, according to the Akron Beacon Journal.
The material sparked a firestorm from parents, including speakers who also attended the board meeting and called the directions “disgusting” and a form of “preparation”.

Hudson City Superintendent of Schools Hudson Phil Herman described the material as “inappropriate and offensive writing directions” in a prepared statement and said the books were withdrawn from schools Monday.
“The district immediately determined that this writing resource should not be in the hands of our students and on Monday collected the books from students enrolled in the course,” Herman said. “It is important to note that at no time were any of these inappropriate writing cues assigned as part of the class.”
