Battlefield 2042 will not make the scheduled release date. Developer DICE announced Wednesday that the game has been delayed until Nov. 19, nearly a month after the scheduled October 22 release date.
In a statement posted on Twitter, DICE CEO Oskar Gabrielson explained that the delay was largely due to challenges from working from home during the pandemic.
“Building the next generation of Battlefield during a global pandemic has created unforeseen challenges for our development teams,” Gabrielson said in a statement also attributed to the Battlefield 2042 development team. “Given the scope and scope of the game, we had expected our team to be back together in our studios as we progressed towards the launch. With the current conditions not allowing this to happen safely and with all the hard work that teams do from home, we consider it important to take the extra time to fulfill the vision of Battlefield 2042 for our players “.
While the news of the delay may be disappointing to everyone involved, Gabrielson also said that DICE will have more information on the open beta of the game later this month.

The new Battlefield game will also feature a new mode called Battlefield Portal, which will allow players to create their own unique changes to maps and game types, crafting something completely new to share with the community.
While 2042The original release date of October 22 would have placed him as the first big multiplayer shooter of the fall, he is now in a slightly more complicated position.
