Vicente Taiano Alvarez resigns to his position like governor of the Guayas Community Guayaquil

Vicente Taiano Alvarez submitted his irrevocable resignation from the post of governor of Guayas after three and a half months of work, government sources have confirmed.

In a letter, the official informed President Guillermo Lasso that his departure was due to “strictly personal” reasons.

Taiano served as the Executive’s representative in the province from May 25 until this Tuesday, September 14.

On his first day in office, Taiano said he would focus on the health crisis stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic and the province’s security concerns. For the last issue, government authorities announced days ago the intervention of Guayaquil for the criminal acts and violent deaths recorded in recent months.

That morning, the governor planned to attend a meeting to establish joint actions with members of the Judiciary. The meeting was postponed.

The Presidency of the Republic thanked Taiano for his work at the head of the Government.

This Wednesday the 15th, at 6:30 p.m., the new governor will be made official.
