Are there any exceptions?

People can get a medical exemption that allows them to enter all configurations without vaccination testing in Ontario.

Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Christine Elliott said on Tuesday she hoped there would be a limited number of people with this exemption.

“In general, there are very few acceptable medical exemptions to the COVID-19 vaccine (for example, a severe allergy confirmed by an allergist / immunologist or an anaphylactic reaction to a previous dose of a COVID-19 vaccine). 19 or any of its components that cannot be administered mitigated (a diagnosed episode of myocarditis / pericarditis after receiving an mRNA vaccine), “says the Ontario College of Physicians and Surgeons’ guide.

Dr. Kieran Moore, the province’s chief health doctor, stressed that the registrar of the Ontario College of Physicians and Surgeons requires that anyone issuing an exemption “must state the exact reason for the medical exemption, as well as how long this physician exemption should be established, as well as identifying you and identifying your university. “

“There are forms that will standardize it for professional nurses as well as for doctors, and a standardized exemption format,” Dr. Moore said. “If there is abuse of that … there can be professional discipline and if there is fraud, there is a process through the reopening of Ontario law enforcement that can address the issue of fraud “.

Each individual’s medical exemption will be incorporated into the QR code when the enhanced vaccine certificate is available.

He added that it might be possible for people to falsify written letters for medical exemptions, especially before the digital version was implemented, but did not express significant concern that this would happen once the QR codes were in place, all and that a paper version of the vaccination test will still be accepted.

In addition, between September 22 and October 13, people may provide proof of a negative antigen test to attend an indoor social gathering specifically associated with a wedding service, rite, or ceremony, or a funeral service, rite or ceremony at certain meetings or events. spaces.

How will the vaccination system test be applied?

Elliott confirmed Tuesday that law enforcement officials will oversee the implementation and execution of the vaccination testing system.

For anyone working in a business who feels “threatened” while trying to verify the vaccination status of an employer, the deputy prime minister said he should call 911.

“If there are companies that are concerned that when they refuse entry to a restaurant, gym or whatever happens, that if at any time they feel threatened, we want them to call 911 as soon as possible to make sure that the police officers can attend, “Elliott said. “We want to make sure everyone complies with these rules.”

When asked if he is concerned about the volume of calls that may reach police, Elliott said he does not anticipate there will be much demand.

Under the Ontario Reopening Act, fines for people who fail to comply start at $ 750.
