A giant mess was set up this Wednesday at the Metropolitan Wanda. Atletico Madrid equalized to zero with Porto of Matheus Uribe and Luis Diaz at the start of Group B of the Champions League.
Despite the few emotions, the most striking thing happened towards the last minutes of the match: an annulled goal action and an expulsion, both situations against the Portuguese team.
3 minutes into the game, Mehdi Taremi had a great chance to put his team ahead, but his kick from the left went wide. In the first half he finished, Jan Oblak cut and the rebound hit the striker again to seal the partial 1-0.

When Oblak’s rebound hits Taremi’s leg, he falls and touches the ball again, but this time with his hand and ends up pushing the ball into the goal. From the VAR they warned the central judge so that immediately, and without needing to review the action, it annulled everything.
Despite being unintentional, the rules regarding hands are clear: “It will be an infraction when the player scores a goal on the opposing goal directly with his hand / arm, even if it is accidentally.”
This goal by Taremi was annulled. And on top of that the VAR reviewed it, confirming that it is useless being manipulated by inept people and protecting interests. Inexplicable, a rudeness.

The other controversy occurred in full time (90 + 5 ‘). Chancel Mbemba was shown a red card for a foul on Antoine Griezmann. While it looked like a normal foul, the central referee interpreted that the arrow cut a clear chance to score.
In a counter by right sector, Griezmann advanced at pure speed, but received a pass from Mbemba. It is missing outside the area and not less than 25 meters from the portico of Diogo Costa.
The referee unhesitatingly removed the red card immediately and the Porto players exploded. Complaints, insults, the victim did not want to leave, everything.
