September 16 (Reuters) – China launched an emergency response on Thursday after a 6.0-magnitude earthquake struck southwest Sichuan province and killed at least three people, state media reported.
Sichuan earthquake relief headquarters triggered a level II response, Xinhua news agency reported, the second-highest in China’s four-tier emergency response system.
The city of Luzhou launched a level I emergency response.
The China Earthquake Network Center said the epicenter of the quake was 29.2 degrees north latitude and 105.34 degrees east longitude. It hit a depth of 10 km (6 miles) at 4:33 a.m. (2033 GMT).
In addition to at least three people killed, dozens of people suffered minor injuries, media reported.
