Buffalo Bills is a Super Bowl scam, says ESPN analyst

A few LVI Super Bowl contenders find themselves without a win after week 1, but only two teams are being called “fraudulent” by week 2.

According to ESPN analyst Bart Scott, the Buffalo Bills and Tennessee Titans should be considered Super Bowl scams based on their respective performances last Sunday.

Buffalo fell to 0-1 after losing 23-16 to the Pittsburgh Steelers while the Titans were defeated at home, 38-13, courtesy of the Arizona Cardinals.

In an appearance on First Take, Scott said he was concerned about both teams.

“I’m both worried, right?” Scott said. “Because I think they are a bit fraudulent right now. Listen, both teams and organizations sold us out as Super Bowl contenders. As people who might be able to drop the Kansas City chiefs from the top of the mountain top. And then, when I look at what happens and I look at what happened … ”

What happened in Week 1 was that the Pittsburgh defensive front overwhelmed the Bills ’offensive line and made Josh Allen’s life miserable for four quarters. This led to a performance in which the Buffalo franchised quarterback completed 30 of 51 attempts (58.8%) for 270 yards and a score while rushing for 44 yards. According to Scott, Allen’s performance against the Steelers was one in which the quarterback showed off some of his old habits from his first two years in the league.

“All the old bad habits are starting to show up for Josh Allen,” Scott stated. “Josh Allen had 21 fouls … Pittsburgh, I thought he pushed them defensively and dictated the game.”

Week 1 wasn’t Allen’s best performance by any imagination, but the quarterback still offered more than 300 yards of total offense against a Steelers defense that could end up being the first unit in the league.

Scott would go on to express that he is more concerned about the Titans, but that clearly seems like an overreaction on the part of the former NFL defender. Scott made no mention of the Green Bay Packers, one of the favorites to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl, which crashed against the New Orleans Saints or the Baltimore Ravens losing to the Las Vegas Raiders on Football Night Monday.

Whether it’s a one-point loss to a blast loss, the NFL season is long and losses like this occur every year.

There’s a lot of room for improvement for the Bills after the first week, but the sky doesn’t fall despite Scott’s comments.
