Tthe North Korean leader’s sister warned South Korea on Wednesday that ties between the two countries could be destroyed after missile tests by both countries.
Kim Yo Jong criticized South Korean President Moon Jae-in for his comments while observing his country’s missile tests. According to the Associated Press, Jae-in said during the tests that South Korea’s growing missile capabilities will serve as a “safe deterrent” against North Korea’s provocations.

“If the president joins the defamation and detraction (against us), this will continue with opposing actions, and North-South relations will be pushed towards complete destruction,” he said in a translation provided by the dam. “We don’t want that.”
South Korea’s tests came hours after South Korea and Japan reported that North Korea launched two ballistic missiles into the sea. Kim stated that North Korea is developing its military capabilities for self-defense and that it is not targeting a specific country with its development.
Kim Yo Jung warned earlier in August that annual military exercises between South Korea and the United States could undermine negotiations to improve relations between North Korea and South Korea. Kim warned that his country’s government and army “will follow closely if the South Korean side exercises hostile exercise in August or makes another bold decision.”

North and South Korea have been building their missile defenses in recent months, and South Korea has successfully developed a submarine-launched missile that is often used to transport nuclear warheads on 7 September.
North Korea also tested new long-range cruise missiles on Monday, the Associated Press reported.
