Andrew Hoyle / CNET Americans can’t see the spectacular light show commonly known as the Northern Lights, hoping to get a rare opportunity to see them this week. The Space Weather Forecast Center said a dazzling scene known as the Aurora Borealis could be seen from unexpected parts of the country Thursday night, but the forecast has now been downgraded. New England, the Pacific Northwest and many other parts of the world dreamed of seeing lights even as far south as the tip of Nebraska, central Illinois and Missouri. The National Weather Service (NWS) office in Medford, Oregon, shared the news Thursday. “Sorry folks, Aurora didn’t know tonight in southern Oregon (or northern CA),” the NWS tweeted.
