A 12-year-old boy died in a strange skiing accident in Canada over the weekend, according to officials and a local report.
The preteen was skiing on the mound. Seymour north of Vancouver, British Columbia, around 8 a.m. Saturday, when he was seriously injured, police said.
In a statement issued to CBC, a spokesman for the resort said the boy crashed into a tree.
He was rushed to BC Children’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
“Everyone at Mt. Seymour expresses our deepest sympathy and condolences to family and friends for this tragic loss,” the resort statement said.
According to police, the BC Forensic Service is investigating.
No further information was released.
The family-owned and operated ski area is about 30 minutes from downtown Vancouver, with more than 197 acres of ski land.
