SOUTHWEST OF MIAMI-DADE, Fla. – A 19-year-old is behind bars after a Saturday morning that terrorized a family and a neighborhood in southwest Miami-Dade. It all happened after a grandfather of Ruben Warren Williams met his grandfather about smoking pot and other substances.
Williams is accused of shooting and injuring his grandfather and aunt and killing his cousin. He faces several serious charges, including second-degree murder.
According to police documents, Williams was upset when his grandfather told him about his drug use around 11:15 a.m. Saturday. Williams responded by shooting his grandfather and then shooting his aunt.
The two victims jumped from a second-floor window to escape the house where the shooting occurred southwest of 294th Street, near southwest of 142nd Avenue.
The victim reportedly broke both ankles and had gunshot wounds to the back. According to the report, the female had gunshot wounds to her upper extremities.

In the living room of the house, Williams shot his cousin, identified as 27-year-old Carlton Tillman. Tillman ended up collapsing on the kitchen floor, where Miami-Dade Fire Rescue found him dead from multiple gunshot wounds.
Williams then went upstairs in search of his grandfather and aunt, presumably unaware that they had jumped. Two other adults hid in an upstairs bedroom with their four children, after hearing gunshots.
According to police, the man hiding in the bedroom had his own weapon and came out of the bedroom. He contacted Williams and they exchanged shots, but the man withdrew and returned to the room where he barricaded the door with a shop window.
According to police, no one hiding in the bedroom was injured.
“There was a verbal dispute inside the residence that escalated and sparked shootings,” Miami Dade Police Department Detective Kristopher Welch said at the scene.
Williams left the residence, where he saw his aunt outside. He started chasing her around the neighborhood while shooting at her, police said. He escaped from the armed army running into a neighbor’s yard. The exclusive surveillance video obtained by Local 10 News shows a neighbor helping the injured woman.

Police said Williams also shot and injured the dog barking at a neighbor.
Williams then escaped the scene after jumping next to the passenger of a parked vehicle. The unsuspecting woman had stopped to locate the address of a store on her cell phone.
The woman said Williams got in the car, put a gun to her head and yelled at her as she drove. He demanded her phone and wedding ring, the victim told police. He said he gave her the items and Williams kept her at gunpoint forcing her to drive for several hours, he said.
Witnesses told police they saw Williams enter the woman’s black vehicle. Williams had also contacted his sister to tell her he had kidnapped a woman for her car.
Police finally reached Williams on Saturday night and took him into custody.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue arrived at the scene and declared Tillman dead. The man and woman were flown to Jackson Memorial Ryder Trauma in critical condition.
